why oh why must . . .

everybody have a blog?

Dr. Who Finale

I'll generally watch anything sci-fi. Even the really dodgy cable shows. I drew the line at "FireFly", but now I'm even breaking that resolution.

With that in mind I've suprised myself by completely failing to watch Dr. Who in its new and shiny BBC incarnation. I watched the first couple of episodes but then just gave up. Until I caved in again and ended up watching the last couple of episodes.

The finish to the series was proper sci-fi with a cool "Phoenix from XMen" type moment.

I think I'll be making an effort to catch the repeats. And if I had kids I'd definitely be looking forward to sitting down and watching the next series with all the kids hiding behind the sofa.

It was one of the best bits of family entertainment the BBC has ever shown. Seriously, I can't remember the last time any TV channel made a genre show which appealed to the whole family - and was well acted and was scary - the empty child - blimey that was creepy.

As for Firefly, I've also just seen the few episodes they made - though it was great - but for my money it's Dr Who and Battlestar Galactic.

I see your geekiness and raise you.

Babylon 5. Brilliant show - vastly more believable universe that you usually get. Should be on tv again.

I'll take that geek Chris,

agree about B5, particularly liked the 5 season story arc,

and raise you,

Buffy was a consistantly excellent show, with a rich and diverse set of characters. Angel continued this, particularly the 4th season, with the story telling interweaving ever more closely.

Har ha. Beat that.

(Kicking open the door and waddling in with a sugar cigarette hanging from lips.) May I join your game, pardners? I'll lay down this, The 6 Million Dollar Man (aka Steve Austin) was a powerful analogy of the dichotomy of man and technology, first most powerfully evinced early in the 19th Century with the Luddite movement, but latterly in the 20th century explored by Asimov's "I Robot", and indeed classic movie outings as diverse as "Alien" and "9 to 5".

indeed, Buffy was excellent - tremendous screaming from Xander in the final series. Angel was also great - Wheedon picked the right time to start the spinoff. Plus the first series linkups with Buffy were cool.

I still haven't seen the last five or so episodes of Angel - so I still don't know how they resolved the story arc after "the damn network" bizzarely cancelled the show.

Now, its getting tough, limiting myself to stuff that's lasted more than one series I'll lead with the Spandex-tastic "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century". beadybeadybeadybeadybeady

Hello Mr.Owl! 6 Million Dollar Man was cool (IBM's new advert is a testament to that fact ) but I still can't believe that Steve Austin made it to Number One in the singles chart in the US.

Although the death of the Bionic Woman, by rejection of her bionics, was a reminder that there are some things that are still beyond us humans.

Star Trek anyone?

I grew up with it. My mom was a trekkie, as were my aunts and uncles. But default it was passed along to me and my cousins. Star Trek is over now - there's no new series, for the first time in my entire existence. It's kind of unfortunate, really. But I can make do with the re runs.

Look, that hand unfolding in the opening sequence of Blake's 7 still gives me the creeps. When I see it. Which granted isn't very often, but all the same it's always in the back of my mind in case I do.

I bet they remake Blake's 7 within the next couple of years.

Imagine how nails it would be now, following in the footsteps of the new BSG and Dr Who!!
